An Individualized Education Plan (IEP) ensures that students with disabilities have access to a Free and Appropriate Public Education within the least restrictive environment. In the US, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires public schools to develop an IEP for every student with a disability who is found to meet the federal and state requirements for special education.
