Today marks the beginning of Autism Awareness Month and tomorrow (April 2nd) will be World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD). You likely wouldn’t be here if you weren’t aware of Autism. In fact, it’s probably safe to assume that most people know at least someone who has been affected by Autism.
Just two weeks ago, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control released new numbers placing the prevalence of Autism at 1 in 50 children.
This year, in addition to raising awareness, we’d like to join to the movement to raise acceptance as well as awareness.
On Wednesday April 3rd at 1pm EST you can join in on an Autism Chat online. Hear from experts from Parents Magazine, Easter Seals, and parents in the trenches. Throughout the month there will be many opportunities to participate and get involved. Check with your local Autism Society, Easter Seals, and other groups committed to raising awareness and acceptance for more events in your area.
How will YOU raise awareness and acceptance this month?
