Birdhouse can be used to track your child’s food intake and even compare it to moods, meltdowns, and poop. This is really helpful for many families, because quite a few of our little ones struggle with various ingredients or food types, and trying different diets can be a challenging task.

Use the “Other” activity type to keep a searchable record of your child’s meals and snacks. This way, whenever you want, you can search for “cheese” and every time he ate cheese will be displayed, or search for “food” and everything he ever ate will be viewable.

Here’s how to do it:

1. On the Calendar page for the child whose food you want to track, click the green “Post a new activity” button, and choose “Other” from the dropdown.

2. Make sure the time is set correctly, and then use the “Type” field to enter what your child ate. Precede the food items with Food: to make it more search friendly, and click “Save this Activity”. Using the “Type” field will display the text right on your Calendar (as opposed to using the “Notes” field, which would hide the text within a note.

3. Search for “Food” in the search bar up top, and voila! Everything your child ate will appear before you, week by week, stored securely for you to reference whenever you need to.

That’s it! And it’s even easier to do and stay on top of if you have our iPhone app.
